Après Ever After
JAN 16 – 19, 2026
A family ski weekend, only Curiouser.
Once upon a long January weekend in the Berkshires, the world slowed down just long enough for families to play again. Each morning, they bundled up and headed to Catamount — the ski mountain just fifteen minutes from their weekend home at The Thyme.
The equipment rentals and lift passes were fast-tracked by Curiouser — only to be offset by the snail-like pace of children walking in ski boots.
Kids attempted their first downhill. Parents claimed victory simply for bringing children skiing at all. Cries for bathroom breaks after seven layers fastened. The lost glove (never two, always one). The small tantrums that somehow became funnier when shared among likeminded families.
Some stayed behind at the lodge, finding adventure in smaller steps and softer landings. Both found magic.
And when the cold would win out — when wardrobe rebellions or boot drama proved too much to bear — they were home in no time.
Back at The Thyme, all would reconvene later in the day. Ski layers were traded for costumes. The après-ski turned into the après whatever — a world of play, warmth, and a bit of wonder in true Curiouser fashion. Parents gathered in the temple for sound and ceremony; a few managed a sweat lodge. Kids built kingdoms down the hall. The mountain faded, but the story kept going.
Somewhere between the breathwork and the bedtime stories, between cacao and cocoa, they remembered why they came — to let their inner child meet their outer one, to laugh, to write their own kind of happily ever after.
Curious? Read on.

We came here to play. And our children are here to remind us of this.
This weekend is an opportunity to be inspired by their curiosity, and follow your own curiosities, too.
It is also a moment to connect with other likeminded parents, and nurture all relationships: with our partners, children, new friends, and ourselves.

Our home for the weekend will be The Thyme, an 85-acre property in the Berkshires that straddles the MA and CT borders. Check this location page for maps and directions.
-
Definitely! The weekend will be classic Curiouser - plenty of activities back at The Thyme for kids and parents, as always. The main difference between Après Whatever and other Curiouser weekends is we provide a ski option for the first half of each day. You can choose to stay behind at The Lodge, where we will design programming for those who do.
-
You may receive a full refund up until December 16. After that date, we welcome you to transfer your booking to another approved member of our community.
-
The best experiences are ones where we start and end together. This helps to create a container in which magic can be created.
Friday check-in is anytime after 1p. Dinner is at 7p, followed by an opening circle for parents at around 9pm (once the kids are asleep). We are requesting that everyone arrives in time for dinner if possible!
Last departures at 3p on Monday
Skiing is obviously a core activity each day, but there’s plenty happening back at the ranch should you choose to not participate. We will ski as a group on Saturday and Sunday from 8:30a - 1p. You can choose to stay all day if you like. There is also an option to ski on Monday.
A detailed programming schedule will be posted for confirmed guests prior to the weekend. The irony of this ski weekend is it doesn’t need to involve skiing in order to be magical. There is plenty of programming surround (and during) ski times. So if you choose. to remain at the The Thyme lodge, we will have classic Curiouser programming on offer.

False! Catamount smaller, less pretentious, icier, more conveniently located than Aspen. You might notice other subtle differences. Curiouser seems to bring the fun no matter where the mountain is.
A short 15 minute drive from The Thyme, Catamount will have your rentals ready upon arrival. We will also collect lift passes for you, and hand them out at check in on Friday.
Ski school options are also available. More information can be found on their website.

Presidents’ Day (Feb 13-16) is another 3-day weekend that is a possibility, based on demand. If you are interested, drop us a line at hello@staycuriouser.com. If enough childlike people are interested, we’ll do it!

We will a few have child wranglers present during the day. This is not a substitute for parenting or private 1-on-1 childcare.
Our nanny team is led by Jenny Aguas, and will be overseeing the kids during their activity blocks throughout the day, which generally occur between 8a - 7p (may vary based on the schedule). Their role is to provide an extra layer of oversight for the kids, and to alert the parents if any child needs them. They will be on break during the first 30 minutes of mealtimes. We request that parents feed their children. While the children can be under the watchful eye of the nannies while indoors, we request that a parent is with their children when outdoors. If you have older kids and would like to discuss, please reach out to Steven directly.
Between 9p and midnight, we will have a babysitter available to keep an eye on the older kids who are still awake, as well as walk the halls of the lodge listening to hear if any sleeping children might be needing a parent during the adult night activities.
If you would like a private babysitter or nanny for your child, we would be happy to try to arrange this for you with one week’s notice.
If you would like to bring your own nanny with you, we can offer them a room in a nearby house on the property at no charge, based on availability.

Before we dive into the magic, our first priority is creating a space that feels safe and manageable—physically and emotionally—for everyone. And while we love animals and are pet owners ourselves, adding potentially several dogs or cats in addition to the ~20 children and ~20 adults to our events adds complications.
For the comfort and safety of all guests — including children — pets and emotional support animals are generally not permitted. If you have a calm dog that fits in a handbag, please contact us to discuss.
We do welcome service animals as defined by the ADA: dogs individually trained to perform specific tasks for a person with a disability. If you plan to bring a service animal, please notify us in advance so we can make appropriate arrangements. -
Massages by Susannah Miskell are available throughout the weekend. Sessions can be scheduled and billed directly with Susannah.
She is a Kelly-trained masseuse who offers somatic bodywork designed to support deep healing and relaxation. Her integrative approach blends therapeutic deep tissue techniques with gentle, nervous system-focused touch to release tension, restore balance, and promote overall well-being. She creates a safe, grounding space for guests to reconnect with their bodies, unwind stress, and experience profound restoration. We will provide a booking link separately.

You can put questions and requests in the group WhatsApp feed and we will try to respond quickly.

Our general statement is — you are in the wild at The Thyme. It is raw nature at its finest. It is important to be mindful, especially with the little ones. As stated previously, the group nannies are no substitute for 1-on-1 childcare. Should you want a personal nanny, we can recommend some in the local area.
Open water — The Thyme has a large, unfenced pond, and a large stream running through the ravine. In January, it will likely be frozen over, and thin ice is something to be mindful of.
Ridge tops — The ravine hike ascends to steep areas
Ticks — They are prevalent in this part of the country, although generally much less prevalent in the winter months. Always good to do a tick check before bed.
Animals — Bears, coyotes, snakes… the Berkshire mountains are their home. We don’t encounter problems apart from isolated dumpster diving incidents (our fault), but it’s important to know where you are. Given the time of year, the bears and snakes are in a deep sleep (to the envy of all us parents).
Location awareness — The Thyme is 85-acres of heavily wooded forest, ravines and ridge tops. If you decide to venture off into nature, be aware of your directions. When in doubt, stick with the group!
Cold: it’s winter in the Berkshires, so button up when you explore the nature that surrounds us!

You can let people know in the whatsapp feed that you are looking for a ride. There is a Metro-North train that goes from NYC to Wassaic on the Harlem River Line. Check the MTA website for details.
The drive from Wassaic train station to The Thyme is approximately 25 minutes. Please contact us if you are looking for recommendations on cab companies in the area. Ubers are few and far between, so it is recommended that you arrange for a taxi ahead of time.
-
Imagine a spectrum with Burning Man on the left side and the Hotel du Cap, Antibes, on the right. Curiouser will be equidistant between center and far left. We will call this “Sensible Self Reliance.”
The Thyme seeks to give the feeling of home. There are no concierges available. The rooms won’t be turned over daily. The linens and towels are yours throughout the weekend. Please hang your towels to dry them — but should you need more for any reason, contact us in the feed.
Please don’t hesitate to ask for whatever you need, just note that sometimes it might just be faster to do it yourself.
Make yourselves at home! Take what you need! Let’s work together! -
Love it! Co-creation is where the magic is. You need not be a professional to dive in. Please speak with Steve first, and we will help you bring your genius to life for the group!

There is a communal refrigerator located in the children’s playspace, accessible 24/7. There are also refrigerators in each lodge guest room.

Yes! Finally. 1 per room.

Unfortunately, we do not.

Fear not! Catamount Ski Slope is global warming-proof. They make their own snow. We make our own fun.
And if it does snow, you are in for a treat — our manor house hill makes for epic sledding.
-
No, it’s true! In fact, we have an award certificate signed by the state of Massachusetts, substantiating this claim. We take great pride in our well water!
So, the great news is you can fill your glass or water bottles straight from the faucets anywhere at The Thyme. We encourage you to bring water bottles.
-
Yes! Curiouser is an inclusive community that loves authenticity, imperfections, individuality and vulnerability!
We bear no judgments, but do have to charge $50 for each towel that is not in the room after checkout.
