We came here to play. And our children are here to remind us of this.
This weekend is an opportunity to be inspired by their curiosity, and follow your own curiosities, too.
It is also a moment to connect with other likeminded parents, and nurture all relationships: with our partners, children, new friends, and ourselves.

We will be providing child wranglers for the group , which is not a substitute for parenting or private 1-on-1 childcare.
Our nanny team is led by Jenny Aguas, and will be overseeing the kids during their activity blocks throughout the day, which generally occur between 8a - 7p (may vary based on the schedule). Their role is to provide an extra layer of oversight for the kids, and to alert the parents if any child needs them. They will be on break during the first hour of mealtimes. We request that parents feed their children. While the children can be under the watchful eye of the nannies while indoors, we request that a parent is with their children when outdoors. If you have older kids and would like to discuss, please reach out to Steven directly.
Between 9p and midnight, we will have a babysitter available to keep an eye on the older kids who are still awake, as well as walk the halls of the lodge listening to hear if any sleeping children might be needing a parent during the adult night activities.
If you would like a private babysitter or nanny for your child, we would be happy to try to arrange this for you with ample lead time.
If you would like to bring your own nanny with you, we can offer them a room in a nearby house on the property at no charge, based on availability.

False! Catamount is smaller, less pretentious, icier, more conveniently located than Aspen. You might notice other subtle differences. Curiouser seems to bring the fun no matter where the mountain is.

Catamount mountain is a short 15 minute drive from The Thyme. For those of you who book online ahead of time, Curiouser will collect your lift passes for you and give them to you during check in on Friday.
There are half and full day passes available. It will be a busy weekend so we suggest booking sooner rather than later. Once you have secured your passes, James and I will pick them up next week and have them ready for your upon arrival at The Thyme. For a full picture of Curiouser programming, group activities will begin around 2pm - assuming most families are skiing half days. But we will adjust the programming schedule based on the group’s flow.
If you are renting equipment…
Some of you are renting skis prior to coming, or bringing your own. If you need to rent from Catamount, you can do so while purchasing your lift passes online. We typically have Catamount set the equipment aside for us to grab early on Saturday, however it is more complicated with kids since they may have to try on a few pairs first.
The most efficient way to rent would be to pass Catamount on the way to The Thyme on Friday, get boots fitted, and have the equipment ready to go for Saturday morning. Stopping at Catamount adds 15 mins to your drive from NYC to The Thyme, should you choose to do that. If not, Saturday am pick-up at the mountain is an option.
Ski Lessons
We also have instructors on standby for Saturday and Sunday for 2-hour private lessons (1 instructor for 3 kids), from 9-11am. It is $200 per child per session, payable directly to the instructor. There are limited slots available. We will do our best to accommodate.
Children Under 7 Yrs
Kids up to age 6 ski free of charge. their passes can only be secured in person at the mountain, not online. To expedite the process, James and Steven will pick up tickets at Catamount a few days before.
You can book lift passes and equipment here: https://catamountski.com/winter/tickets-passes/lift-tickets

For the comfort and safety of all guests — including children — pets and emotional support animals are generally not permitted. We do make exceptions on occasion, eg If you have a calm dog that fits in a handbag. Please contact us to discuss.
We do welcome service animals as defined by the ADA: dogs individually trained to perform specific tasks for a person with a disability. If you plan to bring a service animal, please notify us in advance so we can make appropriate arrangements. -

The best experiences are ones where we start and end together. This helps to create a container in which magic can be created.
Friday check-in — anytime after 2p. We are requesting that everyone arrives in time for family dinner if possible!
You can find updated programming schedules on this page.
-
You can put questions and requests in the group WhatsApp feed and we will try to respond quickly.
If you want to speak directly to someone, you can see anyone from the Curiouser team, or whatsapp or call +1-646-388-0954.

Yes of course! But they’re napping…

Our general statement is — you are in the wild at The Thyme. It is raw nature at its finest. It is important to be mindful, especially with the little ones. As stated previously, the group nannies are no substitute for 1-on-1 childcare. Should you want a personal nanny, we can recommend some in the local area.
Pond — The Thyme has a large, unfenced pond area, which has varying thicknesses of ice depending on the day
Ravine — there is a large stream running through the ravine on the south side of The Thyme
Ridge tops — The ravine hike ascends to steep areas
Animals — Bears, coyotes, snakes… the Berkshire mountains are their home. While the cold weather means some of the animals (and ticks) are less prevalent or hybernating, it’s important to know where you are.
Location awareness — The Thyme is 85-acres of heavily wooded forest, ravines and ridge tops. If you decide to venture off into nature, be aware of your directions. When in doubt, stick with the group!

You can let people know in the whatsapp feed that you are looking for a ride. There is a Metro-North train that goes from NYC to Wassaic on the Harlem River Line. Check the MTA website for details.
The drive from Wassaic train station to The Thyme is approximately 25 minutes. Please contact us if you are looking for recommendations on cab companies in the area. Ubers are few and far between, so it is recommended that you arrange for a taxi ahead of time.
-
Imagine a spectrum with Burning Man on the left side and the Hotel du Cap, Antibes, on the right. Curiouser will be equidistant between center and far left. We will call this “Sensible Self Reliance.”
The Thyme seeks to give the feeling of home. There are no concierges available. The rooms won’t be turned over daily. The linens and towels are yours throughout the weekend. Please hang your towels to dry them — but should you need more for any reason, contact us in the feed.
Please don’t hesitate to ask for whatever you need, just note that sometimes it might just be faster to do it yourself.
Make yourselves at home! Take what you need! Let’s work together! -
Love it! Co-creation is where the magic is. Please speak with Steve first, and we will help you bring your genius to life for the group!

Fear not! Catamount Ski Slope is global warming-proof. They make their own snow. We make our own fun.
And if it does snow, you are in for a treat — our manor house hill makes for epic sledding.
-
There is a communal refrigerator located in the children’s playspace, accessible 24/7. There are also refrigerators in each lodge guest room.
-
Yes! Finally. 1 per room.
-
Unfortunately, we do not.
-
No, it’s true! In fact, we have an award certificate signed by the state of Massachusetts, substantiating this claim. We take great pride in our well water!
So, the great news is you can fill your glass or water bottles straight from the faucets anywhere at The Thyme. We encourage you to bring water bottles.
-
Yes! Curiouser is an inclusive community that loves authenticity, imperfections, individuality and vulnerability!
We bear no judgments, but do have to charge $50 for each towel that is not in the room after checkout.
-
Curiouser was started by burners who realized their kids have better costumes than they do. Saturday night kicks off with a costume themed dinner for everyone, followed by an adults-only apres ski costume party.
Somewhere in between, a kids’ fashion may spontaneously erupt.
The theme is Snow Moon Masquerade, which you can interpret however you please. Need a mask? Convince a kid to make you one during their mask-making session on Saturday afternoon.
Wear whatever you want… but if you want inspiration, try this: https://www.pinterest.com/stevebaer/curiouser-snow-moon-masquerade/?invite_code=26d0a25bd42448e88ed9266ca61f3d3a&sender=121878871074147165
Owls are optional.
-
Alcohol is not included as part of the weekend, but you are free to enjoy your own. The only request we have is to refrain from bringing alcoholic beverages into The Temple.
-
The weekend will be classic Curiouser - plenty of activities back at The Thyme for kids and parents, as always. The main difference between Après Ever After and other Curiouser weekends is we offer a window for skiing each day - typically parents choose half days, but feel free to ski as long as you like.
If you’re not up for skiing, you can choose to stay behind at The Lodge, where we will design programming for those who do.
